How To Use Social Media In Your Wellness Program

Social media has been one of the largest cultural influences around the world in the past decade. Look at these shocking statistics.

  • 81% of millenials check Twitter every day.
  • 22% of the entire world’s population has a Facebook.
  • Over half of the world’s adults with access to internet, have more than one social media platform.

It can be used for political activism, staying in touch, finding love, collecting data, etc… It also has potential to be a powerful tool to improve your corporate wellness program. Furthermore, it can promote your company in a good way to both potential employees and clients! Here are a few ways in which you can use social media to improve your wellness program:

Educate the Masses

Social media can be a great way to spread bite sized chunks of wellness info. Use the company’s Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to post quick wellness tips or facts. Social media can also be used to inform everyone of new challenges and other events in your wellness program! Making this info publicly visible will only make your company look better in the eyes of the public while also making the info more accessible to employees.

Recognize Employees

Employee recognition is so important because it encourages positive behavior. It makes employees feel appreciated. Post a photo of challenge winners to reward them for a job well done! You could also post a list of participants, as well as images of events and prizes!

Keep Everyone in the Loop

25% of Facebook users check their account more than 5 times a day. 35% of Instagram users check the app multiple times a day. People are checking everyday, so you should keep posting. Every two weeks or so, post the rankings of your fitness challenges and keep everyone on their toes!

Be Social!

Use social media to conduct informal surveys about future fitness challenges or to discuss trending wellness topics. This helps employees stay engaged with the program and more likely to participate in the challenges! Keep the conversation going! Employees may end up encouraging each other to exercise more!
