GDPR, IncentFit, and You: May 2018 Updates

May 2018 Admin Updates

You may have heard of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its effect on businesses. This month we’re sharing an updated terms of service agreement and privacy policy that adheres to these new guidelines.

How GDPR changes things

GDPR is a massive overhaul of internet privacy. While the law is European, the global nature of today’s economy means that every company that conducts business online has to pay attention. The new regulation will drastically change how companies interact with their users, particularly regarding consent and language.

The official FAQ explains:

“The conditions for consent have been strengthened, and companies will no longer be able to use long illegible terms and conditions full of legalese, as the request for consent must be given in an intelligible and easily accessible form, with the purpose for data processing attached to that consent.”

We’ve always built our products with privacy and data security as the default, not as an afterthought. That won’t change.

How we updated our policy

Our refreshed privacy policy will make it easier to understand the ways that we collect, use, and protect your data.

The new document includes sections that explain:

  • The information we collect
  • How we use information
  • How we disclose your information
  • How to decline to participate

We have also split our terms of service into two documents, one for individual users and one for administrators.

These updates take effect on May 13, 2018. The next time users log in, they’ll be prompted to read and accept these updates in order to continue using IncentFit.
