Frequently asked questions
Most One Step at a Time Challenges can be set up and ready to launch within 1–2 business days. Once details are submitted, the IncentFit team handles configuration and ensures everything is ready for employees to join.
Participants earn 10 points per day when their walking or running steps exceed the daily step threshold for that week. The threshold gradually increases throughout the challenge to help participants build consistent movement habits over time.
Participants can track their steps through a connected device, making it easy for eligible walking and running activity to count toward their daily progress.
The challenge starts with a 5,000-step daily threshold in Week 1 and gradually increases each week. Participants earn points after exceeding 5,000 steps in Week 1, 6,500 steps in Week 2, 8,000 steps in Week 3, and 10,000 steps in Week 4.
Yes. Offering prizes is optional but highly recommended to increase participation and encourage employees to stay engaged throughout the challenge. Common options include gift cards, extra PTO, company swag, or recognition for top performers.
Participants are ranked by total points earned throughout the challenge. Since points are awarded when participants exceed each week’s daily step threshold, the winner is determined by the highest total point count at the end of the challenge.
Employees can typically join within a short grace period after the challenge begins. After that, admins can work with the IncentFit team to add participants if needed.
Administrative work is minimal. Once the challenge is set up, IncentFit handles tracking, scoring, leaderboards, and reporting so admins do not have to manually manage daily progress.
Admins have access to real-time reporting, including participation rates, total points earned, individual progress, and leaderboard standings throughout the challenge.
The One Step at a Time Challenge is ideal for organizations looking to encourage daily movement in a simple, approachable way. It is especially well suited for teams that want to help employees build healthier habits through steady progress rather than intense competition.
